PMK snaps ties with AIADMK
CHENNAI: The six-month-long bonhomie between AIADMK and Pattali Makkal Katchi came to a sudden end on Sunday. PMK said it decided to snap ties with Jayalalithaa's party after a former minister and AIADMK strongman C Ve Shanmugam filed a petition in the high court to revive a 2006 murder case against its founder leader S Ramadoss and his son Anbumani Ramadoss.

Provoked by the action of an alliance party in trying to implicate its leader in a murder case that had been dropped by police, PMK has come to the abrupt decision which may leave the party friendless as of now. A virulent critic of DMK, PMK is not part of either the ruling front or the opposition line-up.
Stung by Shanmugams revision petition seeking to investigate Ramadoss, Anbumani Ramadoss and a host of their close relatives in the 2006 murder case, the hurriedly convened PMK executive council at the party founders residence at Tindivanam passed a resolution snapping its ties with AIADMK.
The PMKs position may now come in the way of Anbumanis re-entry into the Rajya Sabha when his term ends in June next year.
